i removed the sissy bar from my black vsrca and still have the chrome base plate. I want to remove it but it loos like the rear seat is attached and I'm afraid the holes in my rear fender will look like crap. Any sugestions?

IIRC the baseplate is bolted down underneath the seat pillon. The pillon has a slot in it that slides onto a tongue from the fender support. :D

Just pop open the seat, remove the one bolt holding the pillon on, slide it forward to remove. Unbolt baseplate, reinstall pillon.

The socket cap screws that you see on the baseplate are just cosmetic, unless you have the luggage rack. They don't go through the fender. However, if the foam gasket wasn't applied carefully, you might still see some marks in the paint around the edge of the baseplate.

If you decide to put the baseplate back on, you can get another baseplate "gasket" as HD calls it, and put it on over the old one if it is bad...
This will keep it from making any new marks on the rear fender..
