Rear Fender Base Plate

542 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  saleen146
I am trying to install the rear fender base plate....and After I install it I cannot get the rear pillion to catch the metal tab that slides into the pillion.

It seems as though the base plate forces the pillion up to high for the tab to catch.

Does anyone have any suggestion, I spent 2 hrs thry to get it to work and just cant understand what is going wrong ..... it seems like such a simple piece to install.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I had to really push down hard on the pillion to catch the tab, you may need to use a pair of pliers to bend the tab just a little to slide into the slot.
I had to adjust mine with a pair of pliers and then pushed hard.

I had the same problem... cranking the bolts down just a little more than what felt comfortable did the trick. It went on without pushing at all.
Thanks all....didnt want to break anything....
