Drill and easy out it out. OEM is the best option for replacing the plug. I've never actually gauged the thread but have reduced the plastic plug thread DIA to remove most of the friction as well as a light dab of grease on the threads. I've had it out a couple of times since, no issues. The plastic plug thread reduction was done by chucking the plug and a small tool to cut the thread a hair deeper and sandpaper on the OD after. Slow and easy trial fits along the way. This plug does not need interference fit because the o ring locks it in place when snug. Snug is the key word here.

When I snapped mine off I used a Dremel tool to create a screw driver slot (it's plastic) in the remnants. Then just unscrewed it. Worked like a charm.
Thanks, got the remaining piece out, the thread is 1/2" - 20 UNF , i will put an aftermarket plug in, dont like the OEM one.

Does the new plug have an Oring seal at the head and where did you get it?

Yes but the bastards want 29 bucks to ship it to Canada. They can keep it. To me this part is only worth $5 bucks and there has to be one that's a direct fit with oring. I'll keep an eye out for one to add to my aftermarket parts list.

I try and get the easy aftermarket parts from local auto accessory because when you need it the dealers are usually closed. I found a "smart o plug" which is for oil sump plug, they have a big range of different sizes and are local ( to me). The smart o plug is distrubuted by Rapidfix industries and should be in your local auto outlets. The drain plug has a o ring on the thread which is anti vibration and expands when in contact with oil, so i smeared a small amount of engine oil on the seal before use. The plug has also got an aluminium washer which gives a good face seal without damaging the radiator, i also used the original o ring or a new one to seal off the face.
