That picture is very helpful. I just received the recall notice in the mail. As I said in a previous post, I've never had the problem. I'll have to look at my bike when I get home but the pictures that I have on this computer suggest that my heat shield is much more encompassing than the one in your picture.
Perhaps this was the fix that the factory made at some point. Does anyone know the answer to this?
I don't know the manufacturing date off the top of my head either but I know it is supposed to apply to pre-February 2006 build dates. That suggests to me that the moco fixed the problem after that date.
At any rate, thanks for the picture. I'll look when I get home but I'm thinking that I don't need the recall "fix"
