I made one for my Ninja out of a slice of PVC pipe. I haven't looked at the V's throttle control yet, but I'm guessing it could be done on the V as well, assuming there is enough room under the housing.

have a look at my night rod muscle thread there are pics in their showing what i have done with mine. I have pm grips over the top of them but havent ridden on it yet.

 

Just looked at the A's throttle housing and it doesn't look like there is enough room in there to ramp up the throttle cable guide, especially considering the cable housing locations

All u need is a small sliver of plastic about an inch long under the opposite cable in the pic, not the return cable. I've made them out of small sections of zip ties before. I haven't jacked with it on my f, cause honestly don't see much need...

 

I,am running the G2ergo.com 1/4 turn on my DX. Install was straight forward but did have to remove the throttle lock. You can use standard grips.

That answers one of my questions with the stock grips. Didn't care for the grips on their website.
Can u use that screw as a makeshift cruise control? Haven't used it but plan on a couple hour trip to buddies house hopefully soon.

 

I am using Kuryakyn Premium ISO Grips over the 1/4 Throttle kit, ho problems at all, I really was always concerned about using the screw / throttle lock as a cruise control so I had no issues in removing it when I installed the 1/4 turn throttle kit. it may be possible to keep it but to me it looked like it would not back off enough because of the quick ramp on the 1/4 turn throttle so I just pulled it out. I iso grips have a throttle boss that can be installed or removed so I just use that for long trips.

 

where can you get HD grips from that dont come with the throttle boss? e.g. so you can just buy the g2ergo 1/4 turn tube

I dont like the G2 designs either - I prefer some plain black PM or Avon grips

 

Bogie thats easier said than done they virtually dont exist. I took my pm elite grip to an engineering shop and they turned off the throttle ramp on a lathe and bored the centre to accept the g2. Looks great i will post a pic tommorrow night.

go with limited choice from G2ergo or find a machine shop that can help

dunno why g2ergo dont do a bigger choice, they are all a bit bling and shiny for me....I just want some plain black metal/rubber grips

you dont have to twist as much the throttle when riding, they usually
come with different gears, 1/2 turn. 1/4 turn. and normal.
i personally get along great with this mod.
less stress on my wrist.

 

its an ergonomic thing ....depending on how you grip the throttle some people find themselves "re-gripping" all the time with long travel throttles like Harley fit

The only way I'd think this would work is if you did mill out the interior of the throttle grip, no?

So that way it would go bar, 1/4 shift thingie, and then grip?

Interesting......annoys the crap out of me when i have to turn the throttle so far over.........I was reading somewhere that the F had "throttle by wire" or something like that.......but the dont.....i wonder if they did could you play around with the range more ???

(it's just that the "wire" is in a cable housing and there's two of them-- just like every other bike designed by dinosaurs!)

Update..... Talked to G2ergo and they said Avon grips used there 1/4 turn tubes. Talked to Avon and they said if you order over the phone they will install G2ergo in any of their grips for $25 extra. I'm on it.

 

Ordered. Just under $100 with shipping. Once there on I'll give my .02 back.

 

Got the grips on. Wasn't as fast as 15 min. as others have stated, for me anyways. Avon grips were delivered as promised in about 3 days. The cam was significantly more aggressive in appearance than stock. Once mounted it is less of a rotation. Unfortunately I did not get a picture to compare before I put on. Sorry got in a rush. So far happy with the product and will be able to ride tomorrow. It will be a balmy 47 degrees and sunny.

 

great news re Avon and G2ergo, I will be giving them a call too, thats just what I want to match my other Avon parts

Avon have a nice range of grips, and are revising their website to offer the G2 Ergo 1/4 turn option publicly as they have had a few orders recently ......
