Hi guys,

I am rebuilding my front forks. I went with progressive springs and race tech valve set for my 06 night rod.

My question is this:

The OEM springs are short with a long shim, the progressive spring is longer than the fork tube is extended and comes with a plastic shim.

Those of you that installed these did you use the entire plastic shim?
Do other versions of the vrod have longer springs?
That looks like a lot of preload to me and will make the ride race bike stiff.

Also, are you guys happy with your springs? I like a stiff responsive ride, but I don't want it to be as tough as my race bike.

Thanks in advance.

I used the Race Tech springs with the Race Tech emulator kit and it too came with a long plastic shim and instructions to cut the shim to length. I would assume Progressive would provide you similar information with their springs.

Thanks and yes I do have all of that.

How is the ride quality? Would you change anything?

Also, which instructions did you follow? Apparently there are more specific instructions related to a DVS code. I have rebuilt and adjusted suspensions on race bikes before. It turns out with out specific adjusters this is a little bit more complicated.

Thanks again.
