How bike-specific are shocks? The V takes Progressive 4055C. Would 4048C (FXD / FXDWG ) not work on the V?

Thanks

Dave I think the last two digits have to do with the length...but zap Steve @ VMOD..he could tell you....or you could call the desk at your harley shop and ask them for the dimensions of both...that would clear it up too.

Well, the 55's are 13" and the 48's are 12.5". If that's the only difference, they'd not only fit, but the bike would be lowered a bit.

Actually...I've been investigating this lately...Mega, go to the Progressive web page and then the Literature page. Check out the Spec & Tech page to see the difference in the 48 vs. 55. I believe not only are the length different but also the Rate of the spring is different. I'd also call Progressive and ask them what issues (if any) would be to install the 48.

If you want Chrome make sure you designate a "CC" at the end of the P/N.
