So; Vrod Jim makes me a smokin, screamin deal on a set of chrome pegs, foot controls, and kick stand. The rear pegs and left rider’s peg/shift lever went on slick as snot on a doorknob.
Which brings me to my problem(s).
To remove the jiffy stand, the manual says to first “remove the spring” with the stand in the retracted position. Swell. How in the !@#$%^& is that accomplished? After bloodying my fingers and re-inventing certain parts of the English language, I’ve figured out that it ain’t gonna happen with ordinary pliers.
Getting the rear brake lever separated from the master cylinder is a process obviously designed by former nazi interrogators. I got the cotter pin out of the clevis pin (a process I’d just as soon not repeat in this lifetime). But how in the !@#$%^& does that clevis pin come out? As near as I can interpret the wording in the manual (which lacks a diagram for the operation) one should use a pair of pliers to press the pin outboard until the pin shoulder pops out of the brake lever. Tried that. As you can probably guess, I got nowhere. I even took the new brake lever (which has the clevis pin and master cylinder connecting rod attached to it) to a leather-jawed vice and tried to press the pin out. No luck. Can I just unscrew the master cylinder connecting rod of the stock lever from the master cylinder and chuck the whole works over the back fence; seeing as how I have replacements for everything?
Thanks in advance.
