Power Vision

I have a VIRGIN 07' VRSCDX. I'm the 2nd owner of this beauty.

My plans are simple honestly. I want to do 2 simple upgrades, Power Vision from Power Commander ( I like the fact that I can tune as I go and that's nice because I don't have a laptop) and the Thunder-header exhaust ( It sounds beautiful )

Like I said the bike is virgin and the exhaust sounds like a fart in the wind and I know that when I do the exhaust the bike will have to be tuned so I wanted to get the Power Vision first that way the tuning part is done and over with because it has the famed Auto Tune software already implemented into it so that's fantastic for me. And If I decide to do the Auto Tune Pro I can get more tuning out of the software and the kit can be added with no issue. And because of the wide band O2 sensors I can get more out of the individual cylinder tuning but right now that's neither here nor there right now.

I decided on the Thunder-header exhaust cause it comes in black, its 2 into 1, so the torque and power band is better and it sounds damn good.

So with those 2 upgrades I should have a nice setup.

What are everyone's thought's on this? Good or bad idea

U will love the AT. I have a PCV w/AT on my 05A. Do not have the vision ( wish I did ) on the fly tuning would be sweet. I have my V setup for dual maps. one HI perf map and Eco. map. I swapped out the horn switch with a high beam switch and switch maps with my thumb.:D
Once you get a tune in play with a few (+5) degrees timing advance and you will have a different machine. I need a bigger tire lol

Wow you add 5 degrees of timing? Does it ping at all? What octane fuel?

That sounds like a lot to me but maybe v rods are fuel and timing starved from the factory lol

On the PCV it's +5 do not know if that equals 5 degrees at the crank but from what I have read should be. I have +4 down on the low end and ramp up from 0 to +5 on the top end. I'm running fairly fat on the AFR's and run 92 gas. Have not heard any knock as of yet. I do not think an 05 has any kind of anti-knock feature built in. But I could be wrong. I'll try and post a pic of timing map after work.

The +5 is in % not degrees (at least thats the way its set up on the powervision). Love mine! Im still hesatent to use all of it as this whole programming thing is very new to me, but I love the idea its all in my hands if I want to do it.

The % is for the fuel and VE adjustments, on my power vision there is a degree symbol next to the numbers on the timing tab, so I think it's 5 degrees not 5 %.

Ok so I decided Fuel Moto is a bad ass web site and Im ordering the following in my Power Package.

1. Power Vision w/ value bundle-$499
2. K&N high flow filter-$59.95
3. Vance & Hines Competition Series 2-1 exhaust-$644.49

The PV is for obvious reasons and I have no issues their.

The K&N filter is a small concern because of the oil and the fact our bikes use velocity stacks and I don't want that K&N oil to screw with the bikes electronics, I've seen the oil mess up sensors before in car's and truck's from the oil so I'm a bit nervous with this part.

I decided to go with the V&H instead of the Thunder Header because I love the sound, its shorter so its not covering the swing arm like the stock exhaust and I've got a track record with V&H.

K&N will not be an issue for u since u do not have O2's on an 07 (I believe) K&N is better because the crankcase ventilation sometime can generate oil residues in the stack area. I have PCV w/ AT ( non vision) on my 05A w/ V&H power shots. I'm very happy with the PCV AT tune and some timing bumps, bike is strong is all areas but need a bigger tire likes to get loose at 6K :D:D
Ur setup sounds just right to me I think u will be happy.

It does have O2 sensors, but I'll be talking to Fuel Moto sometime today about it all when I place the order.

I stand corrected sir, good call. The VE and FUEL tabs are in % and the SPARK tab is in degrees.

My bad. :banghead:

You'll be really happy with that setup.

I'm gonna get my fuel and VE dialed in with the auto tune and then play with timing. Dynojet recommended 2 degrees at a time then check for knock events.

Even after auto tuning several times (and then again after I figured out my vac leak under the throttle body) I still had to add fuel in the mid range and for decal pop.

Do you have widebands?

Where did you get your base map from?
What were your base maps AFR's in the problem areas before adding fuel? AT will only tune to a given AFR in any given cell

Im running the stock O2 setup with the basic powervision setup.

Again, I am SUPER new to programming anything. I set it up like the instructions said and ran autotune the way it stated.

My base was a pre installed tune from DynoJet that included the [email protected] filter and the TAB slip on's. Those are my only "performance" mods besides the tuner itself.
I would check the map number to ensure it got updated and is not a factory base map. Did your AT come with new O2's? If so those are "wide band" sensors where as stock O2's are narrow band sensors. Using wide band sensors will give you better tuning capabilities.

No, I did not purchase the additional O2's (wide band kit). I simply put the powervision unit on the bike with stock O2's.

Ill take a look at it again when I get home, but the unit (when I picked from the list of tunes provided from dynoJet) stated my bike, tab slip on's, [email protected] filter and that is what I have.

I guess I could have chosen the wrong tune, using the small touch screen can prove to be difficult with someone with fat fingers like myself.
I suffer from the same finger issues. Maybe its a good thing I did not get the vision. LOL Maybe the maps are setup for wideband and ur narrow bands are making the tune a bit different. Do a search on wide versus narrow pros and cons and see what you can find out

The power vision is set up to auto tune with stock narrow bands, it's called auto tune basic. It has another feature called auto tune pro that utilizes widebands (sold separately)
