Passenger pegs down

1015 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Pr0jekt
Tried a search but results were mostly about relocation.

'15 DX, my exhaust side passenger pegs keeps falling down after riding. Not a big deal but is there a way to make the friction tighter? Require some shim in between?

Thee should be a spring holding the peg in place. It is part #8 in the attached picture. If it's there but just not holding just bend it a little. If its not there go to your local H-D dealer for replacement.

Perfect, thanks. I did see that piece in there when I looked but didn't realize that's what it is.
Alternatively, if you don't carry pillions, just remove them and save a few kg in weight!

Some of them are crap as in poor heat treatment so the springiness is none existant. Some rust way causing the same thing. What I've done a couple of times is custom grind a flat washer to give a friction fit when the pin is installed. My rear pegs and mounts are removed so don't have that issue any more.

I appreciate all of the responses. I don't ride 2-up so I could just remove, I'm just pissed that the backrest the previous owner put on is one that also has the luggage rack and I believe there are 3 sizeable holes drilled in the fender for those to install.
