Old Biker, New (to me) Destroyer Owner

TIMINATOR 1 on this board, TIMINATOR on other boards. Biking and drag racing forever, just bought a Destroyer! That is a Bucket list thing for me. But the list keeps getting longer....
I am an engine builder/engine machinist by trade (Hot Rods, Hot Boats, and Harleys) and I eat, sleep, and live going fast! Everybody that works for me owns fast HDs, and one has a Night Rod. My street bike is a Pro Street Breakout with a built engine and wife rides a built SE Deuce. Not much else to tell. I look forward to sharing info with all. Glad to be here! TIMINATOR1

Welcome
Welcome. Looking forward to see what you do to the Destroyer.
Hows the weather in old St.Loo? I lived in Springfield, Il. for 10 years before I moved to the Phx, Az. area. Do you live in one of the 'burbs? Timinator1
Well, I've; poked, prodded, checked, and familiarized myself with the new bike, bought all of the required safety gear, done burnouts and launches in my driveway (250 ft. long concrete) and am planning to run it Friday June 8th. I'll post what happens! TIMINATOR1
1st pass: easy launch at 5500, went straight, got off of it at 900 ft. ran 10.0 to there. Bounced off the rpm limiter pretty bad. Wasn't ready for it!
2nd pass: launched at 6500, hit the launch rpm limit at 7160 and short shifted it. Wouldn't go higher. got off of it early.
3rd pass: tried completely filling the gas tank on the off chance that it was fuel starved. launched at the limiter 7160 wouldn't rpm higher.
4th pass: Checked, probed and prodded everything that I could think of before I ran it. Same results.
At least got some seat time! Had fun. Will check limiter and clutch switch functions. Last owner had a Pingel shift button on it, it doesn't work well with my hand so I went back to the stock shift button. It shifts correctly with the stock button, but I wonder if there is an issue with it or the clutch switch(it has been replaced, I can see the spliced wires). I can check the rpm module with my ignition driver too. That's on the list. TIMINATOR
Im really looking forward to following your mods / changes. How hard does it launch in that RPM range? Wheel up or does it hunker and go? PS Welcome to the forums. This is a great community.

Try a 7000 rpm launch then short shift second into third as quick as possible to see if you can get past the limiter issue
After leaving on the limiter on the last pass, I did short shift 2nd and 3rd to see if it helped. It did not... Still never went over the launch rpm. as I let off of it, it still was breaking up down even to 5k rpm. 7100+ launch is wheels up thru low and part of second even short shifting. Clutch switch shouldn't make it break up at lower rpms, should it? I'm thinking launch control or ign box issues. TIMINATOR 1
The clutch switch was recently replaced by the guy I got it from and there was no free play between it and the clutch lever. The computer thought the clutch was always in so it stayed on the launch limited RPM. Adjusted it and no problems! Did a few launches in my driveway (250 ft long) Its a Beast! Wild Horse Pass Dragway is in summer hiatus, so no more runs till September. TIMINATOR
I figured that out on my Dyno Jet Dyno, it wouldn't rev higher than the launch RPM and only showed 121 HP at 7184 RPM. I disconnected the clutch switch and it made over 172 HP on the next pull! TIMINATOR
