Does running a 240 tire on a 8.5 rim affect the odometer reading? I do have a speedo corrector for the 28T pulley and I'm assuming it's set correctly.

Reason being, my buddy on his low rider with no modifications to the pulleys or wheels always shows more miles from point A to point B then me and we set our trip meters to 0 before leaving the same location.

I'm only talking about approx. 6-10 miles difference but its got me wondering.

I can't see why it would since you're only changing the width of the tire.
If the circumference is the same your speedometer/odometer shouldn't be affected.

I run a 240 and my speedo and gps are always within 1mph of each other and usually under 100 it is about 1mph over and over 100mph my speedo is about 1mph under.

Wife and I both ride V-Rods, hers '02 and mine '07. When we fill up together the odometers are generally different by 3-5 miles per 100.
