Howdy all!
Last September I picked up a used 2014 Night Rod Special (Sand Camo Denim) with a little under 3000 miles on it. I didn’t get much seat time on it before winter set in, and am chomping at the bit to get it back out.

Having owned many sport bikes in the past (like 20 years ago), my bucket list included a Harley of some sort. The last few years a friend of mine had loaned me his 2010 Fat Boy Low while he rode his 2014 VRSCF. I liked the low seating position of the FB but it wasn’t what I would call “fast.” I did like the power of his Muscle, but it felt way too high of a seating position. To me, the Fat boy with the V-Rod engine would’ve been ideal.

Checking out a semi-local used bike dealer online, I saw pix of the 2014 NRS and fell in love with the looks. Thinking that it probably wasn’t going to be any different than my buddy’s Muscle ride-wise, I made the hour trip to see it in person. After sitting on the NRS, it felt different from the F model. I felt a little lower in the saddle - like I was into the bike, rather than on top of it. I bought it then and there, without even test riding it. I picked it up a week later.

So far, this has been an ideal bike for me and am looking forward to many (s)miles to come. Not content with any stock vehicle I’ve owned, I already have replaced the mufflers with TAB slip-ons for a more appropriate sound. Over the winter I’ve stocked up on several parts and accessories that will be going on in the next few weeks. Thanks to primarily this site, I’ll be upgrading the suspension, lights and cosmetics soon (parts are in-hand, just waiting for warm weather). I already have a new seat from Bitchin’ Seats, and it is truly a work of art.

Sorry for the long intro. Looks like I need to get a few posts under my belt before I can post pix. I look forward to many exchanges and tips from you veterans.
