Hello all,
I am trading in my 81 Shovelhead on a 04 VRSCB next week. Looks like a good forum, this is my first V-Rod, so I am excited to get it in the garage and start learning. Any tips are appreciated. The only thing I see it needs now is a sissy bar, so my kids can ride on it. Other than changing all the fluids, is there any other PM I should be doing to it once I get her home? Any lead on service manuals would be appreciated as well.
Welcome. The first thing that needs to be done after you change the fluids is a full tank of fuel and ride. That's it. These things are pretty bullet proof. Just remember as well that these bikes love high rpms. It will be a bit different then the shovelhead. No need to short shift.
Enjoy.
Welcome to the forum. I would replace the heat shrink hose clamps with standard clamps, tighten the remaining hose clamps & tighten your steering head bearings.
Can you get the stock headlight from the seller? That's probably why it doesn't work. I have the very same 04 B. you can expect weird reading s on the gas gauge, allmost everyone does.
I have an excellent condition headlite off my Silver R model for sale if you need one
