Muscle Bags on a VRSC-D?

2718 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  ejones565
Anybody out there find a good way to mount bags from a VRSC-F on a D? It's getting hard to find the parts (yes I've waited too late to find a good solution to mounting bags), but I'm on a quest.

If you've seen details on how to do a clean mount of Muscle bags on a standard Night Rod with the stock 180 tire, would appreciate any info you can share.

Well for starters, youre going to have to change to a low mount exhaust to go under the bags, and remove your passenger pegs/mounts as the bag covers and attaches to the peg bracket holes
A problem the DX owners have had is that the seat will hit tbe sides of tbe bag and not swing open. One guy just removes whole seat every time he fuels up

Is your bike an 06 with the narrow frame and 3 gallon tank, or an 07-08 with the 5 gallon tank and wider frame?

Ouch - ok - that's good to know. I'm fine with changing the exhaust, but I would prefer to maintain the standard controls and the passenger footpegs. My bike is an 06 with the narrow frame & 3 gal tank.

Really appreciate the info. That narrows down my search options. I think I need to stick with the nylon bag mounts for the D with the narrow frame - and look at fabricating something to attach a better bag. I'm looking at getting one of the frames and fabricating something to work with Kuryakyn's Xkursion bags.

Hey, don't let me scare you away. The F model bags are awesome, and would look great on your bike. Just be prepared for some customising to make it fit. There's lots of options for relocating the passenger pegs. Having the nylon bag mounts would probably help. Here's some pictures to compare

Definitely appreciate the pics, and the encouragement. One option that I had considered was relocating the passenger pegs, but I think that would essentially require me to change from mid controls to forward controls. I really want to keep the mid controls.

The info you provided really helps - I think it just steers me way from the Muscle's bags. I'm still looking to fabricate something - I just want to keep the controls the way I have them - but definitely appreciate the insights.
