I am not exactly sure of the process or what is actually "cut", but if it were me, I wouldn't go more than 1" or 1.5". Otherwise, depending on your pipes, your right turn ability will be hampered!

Talk to me soon!

Kaz sold me his spare set of OEM shocks, but unfortunately he DROPPED one during the packing process.
I'm not sure of the performance difference between the PM's and OEM, but I am sure it's not $260 better, not to mention OEMs are aestically nicer looking.

Luckily his dealer can get him another one to replace the dropped dented one... He should have them shipped off to skullent by the end of the week, which means I should have them by the end of next week (1 Nov time frame).

I'll take pics and give a ride report...

Having recently traveled down this road I can share what I know on the subject.

Progressive will reccomond that you get the heavy duty shocks if you tell them that you are 200lbs, ride aggressivly and have a passenger 20% of the time.

I did. Way too stiff.

So I took them apart, sent the caps out for chrome (the ano finish looked bad on my bike) and sent the springs back to progressive for a free exchange to lighter ones.

Reasembled, 3 turns on the adjuster (hand adjustable) and they are perfect. It's really helped the ground dragging issues too.

Three more turns when loading Bimbolina on there and it's perfect. Probably another turn if I add luggage.

Between the Progressive front springs, heavier oil and the 13" 440 std spring rears my bike handles terrific. Just added the Venoms too and I think now it's going to be awsome.

Sounds like I might have some suspension expenses in my future. :icon_mrgr

It's interesting though, I only have about a 1/4 - 1/2" chicken strip on the rear and I've yet to scrape anything. Of course I run 4 on the rear preload and 5 with my 100 lb wife on the back. It could also be the way I ride. I learned to ride KR style 25 years ago before bikes had the kind of ground clearance they have now :) Surprised a few crotch rockets during Biketoberfest too :diablo:

What tires is chicken the strip on?

w/ the 200metz my chicken strip was barely measureable, though I'm dragging everything possible on the bike.

Pegs aren't geting sharper any more, now they only get shorter.:D

Looking forward to trying it with the Venoms.

PS: I ran the stockers at #4 also.
