Iso Stirrups from Kury did the trick for me it's like having floorboards without the bulk! I have switchblades on my RoadGlide and they work good but if you hit a hard bump with your feet on them they can slip down :( not so on the iso stirrups they fit in notches and you can pretty much stand on them (wouldnt advise it though :D) I think this would solve your problem. ;)

what about exercise or compression socks? Sounds like you're having some circulation issues

Thighmaster. :)

Seriously, you'll adapt. I'm 5'6", sit on a Corbin (back another inch) and ride serious distances. I go through this every spring, but by the time it's hot, I'm good.

Really, I'd like a heel rest; I think that's the answer. I just haven't seen some I like. Probably have to make some. I like the Switchblades, but they don't match anything else on the bike. Tip: if you install heel rests that mount to the footpeg, get a harder bolt to replace the one that retains the footpeg assembly or it will shear off at exactly the wrong time.

Thanks for the replies! I'm glad i'm not alone with my lazy weak thighs.

I think I'll go for those Switch blades or ISO stirrups, which sound better than flooboards
If those don't do the trick I'll also invest in some reduced reach adapters, then followed by th horn mod, and then a 2010 ultra. But it sounds like yall have had this problem and got it fixed, and I really like my vrod.

vroder, i think i'll also get a thighmaster. Not for teh riding or anything but just to get some definition.
and about that transmission, i had no idea that could be a problem! Hopefully it doesn't cause a lot of problems, but I guess I'll try to be more careful about shifting to 6th gear while i'm at it

Kurakyn "Switchblades" work.

If you have the DX,mount a second option for foot position.... D mid foot holds without controls.

second foot position option

:them:Kurakyn "Switchblades" work.

If you have the DX,mount a second option for foot position.... D mid foot holds without controls($187). This D assembly mounts at swing arm position.
Estimated work time 2 hours?

The "D" mid peg mount is also a more comfortable position for passenger legs.

I dont know i buy the tranny getting hurt...anyone ever have this happen to their bike?
It probably won't in most cases of putting pressure on the shifter, but I've seen excessive shift fork wear in other vehicles from the driver leaning on the shifter. With as frail as some of the early internal shift mechanisms were, why take a chance?

With the brake,I know for a fact it causes air to enter the master cylinder.

You can do as you like,I was just adding a precaution.:)

The problem is not so much your legs are too short or that the pegs are too far forward. The problem is that the handlebars are too short for your arms.

When you bend at the waist, your legs spread naturally. It takes effort to keep your legs together and they get tired.

I suggest that you adjust your handlebars so that you aren't bent over so far. If you can't get relief there and you have adjusted them as close as possible to your body, you either need taller bars or a reach seat.

Sounds to me like the bike is new, just ride as you are and your endurance will increase. Or maybe you should have purchased an Ultra :hidesbeh: Seriously, give it some time then see if changes are needed.

Every Spring after being off the bike (except rare mid-winter rides) I notice leg & torso fatigue, I attribute it to lazy muscles, after month or more of being in the wind the strength returns.

You could ride the ~path lesser taken~ at a slow pace to reduce wind resistance & force.

Also how is your general health? I was surprised to find the fatigue can have metabolic root cause, if detected treatment may improve your overall ride endurance a lot more in life! :angeldev:

One small problem I get with the bike is my ride everyday is a 7 minute ride to where I work. I got it last August I don't get to do many highway miles unless i really am just purely going for a joyride. I'm in pertty good shape though, 24 at 160 lbs. At least I don't think i have a metabolic disease (is wanting to sleep past noon genetic?). I do have some tailbone stuff, which thank goodness isn't bothered by riding.

I'll probably get those switchblades, if they don't help with fatigue then they'll at least be nice for other stuff. I guess if everyone else can put some highway miles on without a problem, I should be able to get the problem fixed on mine (or on me). I love the bike. Looks great, performs amazing, and i love what it stands for as far as harley davidson

If most of your rides are that short in duration, watch for a gassy smell in the oil. Just a little something to watch.
and then what? hopefully this won't become a problem....

So I think i figured out a problem that's unique to my build. I'm a relatively skinny guy with a 32" waist, but I have 21" thighs. Jealous?

It would appear that my extra cushioning, coupled with the sundowner seat which has the extra padding near the front, is what is really pushing my legs apart. Just stradling the bike I can feel the pressure from the seat pushing my legs away from the engine. then to counter that i'm pushing my legs inward.

I can either a) get liposuction or b) try the stock seat in my garage which i understand is a little lacking in padding.

Most people with a sundowner wouldn't notice this because their thighs are probably normal size and shape. If this is the case, i will be posting in the seat modification section.... and probably installing a viberider while i'm at it.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll get back to yall with my final verdict.

I suggest some weight training. I don't have a problem with the pegs until I start to approach triple digits. Running at 70 to 80 for hours in not an issue for the legs. My ass will get a bit tired, but frosty malted beverages usually make that pain go away.

and then what? hopefully this won't become a problem...
Multiple short trips sometimes won't let you burn off the small amount of gas that might get past the rings when cold. Over time it may accumulate in the oil and eventually you can smell it. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your bike, you just may have to change your oil a little more frequently. Remember, the oil change intervals for cars show both mileage and time intervals.

Some people on here will probably throw up for me saying this but a set of engine guards and some highway pegs saves me on long rides. I have mine set where my legs are fully stretched when using them. I can ride all day and my legs never cramp or feel sore. Do what you need to feel comfortable and the ones that can't stand to ride for long because they're too vain to put something on their bike for comfort let them stay on the porch!

I just put 80 miles or so on the bike today, after a few weeks off. I was feeling my thighs, too. Not to the point where I wanted to put my heels on the pegs, but close.

I have the Harley boots with the heel cut out so you get a good, solid feel with your heels resting on the pegs, so it's not that big a deal.

Switchblades are not an option for me as well, since they don't match the bike and I enjoy the HELL out of my LOOOOOOONG footpegs.

So while riding today, I really noticed the pressure on the underside of my thighs. I always noticed it at a stop, but figured I could use the extra thigh-support while riding. Now I'm thinking I was entirely wrong and should get it re-worked.

My Reach seat never had that issue, but it's thinner in the thigh area by quite a bit. I had too much back pressure with that one, but too much thigh support with the Sundowner.

I'd say re-work the seat first, then consider the Reach pegs. I love mine. Reading your experiences, I'm definitely going to get the seat re-worked. Maybe add a gel pad while I'm at it.

Oh, and I'm 5'8" with a 32" inseam, 155 lbs., so very similar in leg length and overall height. I'm a snowboarder and stay in relatively good shape...
