I ordered the RT.I need a laptop or notebook,so I can do some data logging.

Anyone have one that still has a good battery, and these requirements for the RT:

System:
Pentium-class PC at 133Mhz or above.
Display resolution 800x600 or above, 1024x768 recommended.
One available RS232 port.

Memory:
Win 95B - 32MB
Win 98/SE/ME - 64MB
Win NT (NT4 w/SP4 or above) - 64MB
Win 2000 - 128MB

Hard Drive: 10MB

Note (in RT manual): Use of a USB serial port converter is not supported and is not guaranteed to work due to communication timing requirement

I've been looking around town but nobody has 1 for the right price with a good battery.

Thanks
vinny

Hey Vinny - laptops can be almost as addicting as motorcycles. Or at least as expensive.

I just went through an exhaustive comparison of laptops/notebooks. Whaddya wanna know? My knowledge will be current for about - damn, sorry too late. ;)

Seriously - first decision - do you want a desk top type replacement or portability? More grunt, bigger screen etc usually means more weight and size. Light weight etc means some compromise on grunt, screen, onboard features etc.

Bang for buck I like BenQ actually - we are buying 3 8100 v09's - but they are not super portable. Dell are fine and good value. I love some of the Sony's - but there is a premium.

If you want to use it for other stuff too - go with minimum 40 gig harddrive (5400 rpm, not 4200), 512 MB DDR SD RAM (not just SD RAM), for battery life, make sure you get Intel Centrino processor (1.6 Ghz minimum), not the Pentium 4M, at least 2 USB 2.0 ports, onboard wireless, firewire port, DVD read write and CD read write (watch speeds), PCMCIA card slot, 14 or 15 inch screen of decent resolution, etc
