Check under the seat for this narrow rectangular piece that gets pulled into the wiring harness via two thin metal prongs. I believe this is the sensor for the fob and if the pins aren't fully seated the bike won't start.

I don't have my bike right now or id take a pic, but this happened to me and that was the issue. Perhaps your ride bumped that piece around and made the connection....

Not sure what you're describing but this picture shows what’s under the seat on newer models:

The HFSM transmission antenna is located below the wire connector indicated as item "4" and this connects to the HFSM via the connector indicated as item "7".

The HFSM receiver antenna (the antenna that looks for the FOB signal) is a separate yellow with black stripe wire within the antenna wiring harness between items "4" and "7".

Cell phones, cell phone towers, and other microwave transmitters can interfere with the FOB/HFSM signals.
