How do you clean and re-oil a K&N air filter? What solvent, which oil, etc.
All I could find was instructions using their kit, but I know there's got to be a different way.
Also, what are the benefits/advantages of a K&N oiled filter Vs. an SE dry filter. (I ended up with both, and need to pick one)

Thanks for the input! :thumb:
The K & N, properly maintained, will flow slightly more air than the SE filter, and probably be more durable.

Most of the time I just blow mine out from the inside and make sure it's reasonably clean. When it does need cleaning you can use anything that will cut the spray-on filter oil, then use any good filter oil. I use K & N's kit because it just doesn't cost that much for the once or twice a year you need it (unless, of course, you live on a farm).

I can't say that isn't so. My understanding is that in the case of a routine dose of farm roads you'd want to pay much more attention to keeping the thing oiled. I also have been told that AMSOIL's filter somehow allows even more flow than the K & N, but has much smaller maximum porosity, for a cleaner intake flow. Might be worth a look if you live in dusty conditions but want high intake flow.
