Had a Street Rod for 18 months til I wrecked it (http://www.1130cc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49507), so have been deciding on a replacement for a rather long time ...)

What's the fattest bike to ride? No arguments there ... that's the R !!!
But what's the fattest looking bike Harley has built the last few years? Now that's definitely the DX !!!

So what is a guy to do with this dilemma?

He buys an R, and makes it look like a DX ... simple, isn't it?

Picked it up last week!!!

DONE:
- Changed the pipes, had them drilled out (subtle increased sound, definitely better than the vacuum cleaner it originally was)
- fuel management to fit the pipes (DLINK)
- changed the headlight to fit the fairing
- had both fenders and airbox cover painted denim black with the shiny black racing stripes
- replaced chrome strip around water cooling by black one
- even had the speedometer cover painted
- powder coated both wheels, including the orange stripe
- Added the saddlebag kit
- had baseplate painted black to add the mini sissybar and luggage rack

And it turned out to be the perfect match ... at least I think so !!!

Have a look

Looks great!! I have been to Antwerp Belgium before, back in in 1987 when I was stationed in W Germany, my buddy was dating a girl that lived in Antwerp and we used to drive his BMW 2002tii up there and spend the weekend there.

Nice looking bike.

Beautiful machine, and nicely done, Gonzo. It's a real head-turner, and I'm inspired to start on my own project. I'd wager that yours is the sickest bike with mid-controls in Belgium.

Nice work, Gonzo. I've been working on something similar with my 'R.

What a fantastic twist. Love the look.

I have been holding on to my 1990 1200 Sporty to do something radical.
I want to give it the same sort of overall lines as a DX, though obviously the fact it is chain driven and has a different frame and engine should make it fun.
I will probably use 3 or 5 spoke rims too.

I have not got the room to store it in my garage, let alone start work on it so it will have to wait a while.

An XLDX or DXXL? - Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It should also look great next to my DX :)
