I have recently purchased a set of almost new (300 miles) samson pipes for my '04 B model. Everything on the bike is stock. I realize that I will have to upgrade to a K&N filter and have the bike's ECM flashed to run them, but my question here is do I HAVE to purchase a power commander or can I have Harley flash the ecm with a program specifically for the pipes being installed? I will be taking the bike to Harley but the sound as if they are scratching thier head about "Flashing the ECM" rather than installing a power commander...........any help guys? :surrender

Harley has no "flash" for those pipes. They can charge your for a Harley Race Tuner and run it on the dyno, probably about $800 to do that. Or you can buy a Power Commander and download the maps from dynojet. I am sure they have one, if not, you can get one from the maps library on here. You could also buy Gil's box, do a search for that to find how to order. It will come pre-programmed and ready to go. Either of the later two are very easy to do. Some Harley dealers will install a Power Commander from what I understand, but I did it myself to save a few bucks.
