I know its suposed to be in the airbox but where? And what does it look like. Ive read many times about the relocation and ive never given it a second thought. But i went out and looked for it and im not really sure what im looking for.
Ive assumed that it has some wires comming off of it but im stumped.

Any help??

If you have an '03 - '04 or an '02 that has the IAT relocation kit installed then the air box cover has an indentation on the front left side where the IAT is located with wires coming out toward the front of the bike. If your top cover is smooth and symmetric then you need to get the IAT relocation kit and re-flash from your dealer. ('02 only)

Here is an 02 cover on the left and 03 cover on the right with the location of the sensor marked, Note the 02 has been modified.

The one on the left is for all the Wisconsin riders so they always feel like they are taking a little swiss cheese with them on each ride :)

Mine is an 02 and has a smooth cover. Im currently running topless. Was this item supposed to be attached to the top of the cover b4 i removed it (the cover). Or is it somewhere else on the bike.
Could somebody show me a picture of what i should be looking for or show a pic of where it is on the bike (stock 02)

Ah, that might explain a lot of your problems. the IAT sensor is down between the V near the intake runners (I think). It gets pretty hot down there so the ECM is calculating AFR based on readings that could be as much as 50 degrees off.

Get the IAT relocation kit and the topless kit from your dealer. It will add the extra cabling, plug the original hole and give you a way to install the IAT on your air box.

BTW, what ECM program are you running? You need to upgrade to the SE flash for '04 to take advantage of running topless and compensate for the relocation of the IAT.

Im running the SE slipons and filter flash that it got when I i put the SE pipes on.

The relocation requires a flash........the topless requires a flash. Or is it just one flash the puts the two together?
Im thinking of getting the race tuner as well...........would this allow me to do my own adjustmetns if i just bought the relocation kit?

There's a flash for the '02 bikes that relocate the IAT that's essentually the '03 program. All of the SE flashes assume the IAT has been relocated.

If you can find the part number of the flash I can see if it's before or after the IAT updates. You may already have the correct flash you just need to move the IAT.

I have the se slip ons and had to reflash mine after I relocated the IAT sensor. As far as feeling a difference you really won't. The advantage of having the IAT in the air box instead of the intake runner is the fact that it can detect air temperature much better and is not as bad about hot soaking when you shut down for a few minutes. So it short it improves general drivability but not in a manner that you can really put your finger on.

Hi again CW,

Get the RT!! But make sure that it has the new part number:

32107-01B

That will have the SE topless map and you will be able to do the flash yourself as soon as it arrives. Should be $368 at a discounter like Hale's (they typically keep 'em in-stock. I'll keep in touch about the best RT tune'n dealer around NE as soon as I run into Bruce the Mo's area rep...

The part I use is a piece of 2" electrical tape to the inside of the lower air box. cost me about $0.000001! ;)
Seriously, I do not believe that there is a specfic relo kit for running topless for the IAT.
