Saw this nifty clock in the catalog....

So I see the clock is 99 bucks...but you have to buy the switch housing first...

But it only comes in Black or Chrome. Neither of which would match the silver controls I now have.

What would be easier? Buy the black and get it powdercoated to match or try to upgrade all the controlls to chrome? Or just throw a chrome housing on the silver? Man I hate descisions...:banghead:

Thanks...

I love seeing all the ideas and links coming up. Thanks. Maybe I should be addressing a different problem.

I have the clock shown below. (pic 1) Great clock but does not fit right. It's supposed to go over the stem nut and fasten with a little allen screw. But the inside of the clock housing is way too big and when you tighten the screw it pulls the clock off center. I called the company and they said..."Oh, we didn't know that HD made the new nuts smaller..." I took this to mean that the 01-02 vrods had a bigger stem nut? I didn't ask but I am sure someone here can tell me...anyway, I had to bend that little retaining washer up 1mm all the way around so the clock had something to hang onto and lengthen the set screw. Then the stupid stealer changed my steering bearings and srewed the clock up putting it back on....ding bats...not to mention that the clock cannot be easily seen (pic 2) while riding and not at all at night.

Anyway I was looking for a way to run a switch for my LED lights and I thought this would be nice to have both. Considering the clock was blue and would match my LEDs...I have the switch (pic 3) mounted out of sight, but when water gets in it the lights come on on their own...I need a water proof switch.

I could fix the clock if I could find someone to make me an aluminum ring that fills the space between the housing and the nut...or come up with a bigger nut.

blah blah ..I ramble too much but I love hearing everyone's input.

I installed a version of this clock on my Road King and I do not like it. The LED display is difficult to read in the day time if you have sun glasses on. Also the angle the display has to your face is such to me that the tops of the digits are lopped off by the surrounding bezel. I have to shrink down to see the full display. It has a backlight which works well at night though. The Fomotion clock does not have a backlight so it is unusable at night.

I made my own bracket and mounted the clock on the handle bars next to the upper triple tree. That solved the angle problem but not the LED display daytime readability problem. I have both the Fomotion and this HD clock. One for day, one for night riding. The combination seems to work well.

So I can add some pics to this if anyone is interested. I got the chrome switch housing. It looks real good. Then I got the clock used from a great forum member...thank you! The instructions for the clock tell you under the left front cover...what is that called that aluminum cover on either side of the battery? Anyway on the left side there are 2 small plugs. One I guess is a diagnostig port? The other is a smaller one that has something to do with running lights but is not hooked up to anything. Anyone know what that is for? Anyway the instructions tell you to cut that and splice the 2 wires in there - ground and ignition so the clock only lights up when the ign is on.

I did not want to cut and solder so I went to http://www.deutschconnector.com/ and orderd the connector. I stuck that on the end of the clock wires and plugged right in!

Also the aux switch is now hooked into my blue LEDs so I can turn them on and off on-th-fly!! It really looks sharp and I have no problem reading the clock day or night. Very pleased.

I have a "clocks for bikes" mounted dead center in the speedo. It hides nothing, chromed frame to match the inst. cluster. It looks factory with a life time warranty. Cost me $15.00 They took a picture of it on my "V" but I dont see it in their gallery. Great people to work with too. The only disadvantage is it does'nt light up at night. I'm very pleased with it and its accurate quartz is on the money. Best $15.00 I ever spent.

I think I bought mine right after you did.The guy that said he was the propriotor of the company told me of a v-Rod customer and showed me the pics on his camera.I thought I saw the pics on the site but they are gone now.
I was going to sell his products but there isn't enough mark up for my effort.
