I've read here about guys upgrading their 3.5G tanks to 5G's because they are tired of stopping to fill up every 120 miles or so. My 08 DX is a 5G and 120 miles is all I have ever been able to get out of a tank. It is the 1250cc, all stock and it doesn't seem to matter much if the miles are all city or all hwy. Plus it's a California bike which is mapped leaner than it should be for our special little EPA regs. I'm concerned my MPG's will get even worse after I do the pipes, fuel manager and K&N topless. Stopping every 100 miles or less is going to get real old real quick.

How much are you putting in when you fill up? Are you pulling over at 120 miles because the needle says "E"? You may be just cutting yourself short, don't trust the gauges - you should be getting worse case 150 miles but stock I would guess almost 175. How heavy are you on the throttle? - that plays a big part in it.

:them:

I have the '06 D, with the 3.5 gal and I am filling up at 80-90 miles. Guages are usually on empty. I have never pushed it cuz there is no reserve to fall back on.

I am getting 160-180 out of my VRSCR. 200 would be doable, but no fun!:moped:

I just put the Vance Hines 2 into 1 with the Harley stage one chip and the Vance Hines Power Commander into my 06 night Rod. My mileage has gone up to 43 MPG on the hwy and 35 MPG around town.

I am known for pushing the speed limit and with the new pipes it just sounds so good when you are given her... LOL

I imagine I will get even better mileage once the novelty of the new sound wares off, but I really hope that never happens... LOL

I have a post with pictures in the products section.

I am now looking into the after market bigger tank. I just need to make sure that they are rigged for the Night Rod. It sits a little lower than the V-Rod and Street Rod. Any Night Rod owners exchanged the tank yet???

Talk soon

Did a HOG ride yesterday. My 07 DX stock got 48MPG. Normal I get about 38. I have found that different gas can change the milage. The funny part was we had several different Harleys and one Honda. I found that my DX gets about the same as the rest about 40. Some get 45 some get 35. The 750 Honda got 30 at best. She has a 6 gallon tank. My Dx milage went up after a few hundered miles. To see 160 plus is not uncommon.

I have modded pipes with PC (020 map) and K&N filter on my 06 A model and I am only getting 25.5 miles per gallon around town. I go for gas at about 80 miles. Why is my milage so bad? It must be running real rich although it runs perfectly, nice and smooth with no popping. Runs great, just have to go get gas too often.

In my 03 I always aim to fill up at about 170k's (105Miles) I usually have a couple liters left in the tank when i fill up. Thats on the stock small tank.

I must be heavy handed - I got 120 miles on 4.5, all highway, going with traffic (which flows a bit over 70). Runs like a top, but has a drinking problem......

My always-reliable built in trip estimator told me I had 159 miles remaining Sunday while on a PGR escort mission, but in reality I don't chance it after 110 miles

I dont go much over 120. The gauge is around 1/4 by then but I dont trust it. I ride her hard the way it was meant too!

Have 3K on my stock 06 D and consistently get 36-38mpg mixed driving. I've been playing with premium, regular and super unleaded(10% ethanol) gas and it doesn't seem to make much difference.
