Just wondering how the rest of you (may not be too many around here who wear them) pack your cowboy hat on a road trip. I'm planning on using something similar to this:

and just strapping it to whatever pack I have on the back. Anybody done something different, or have a better idea? Guess I could always just stow it in a hard plastic hat box strapped to the bag....

I don't think that would work too well at 80mph... Not without a Bonanza-style strap!

that's for inside the vehicle though...you might rip up your hat. If you don't care what shape it's in,.. no worries. They do make hat carriers you can strap to the back too.. more cumbersome, but it'll keep your hat safe. }:)

Just choose black and you can bungee or net it to the back.. }:)

I've got a black hard case already, so I could certainly do that, just be a little bulkier. I was thinking that if I bungeed the type of holder in the link to the back of a bag, where the hat was sitting flat against the bag instead of a headliner it might do alright. Just not sure what the wind would be like directly behind the bag like that.

Or you could get something like this...

and strap the sides down so it doesn't ruin your rim.. }:)

You could always drink more and make your headwear when you reach your destination.

Just a thought.
Last guy I saw wearing one of those didn't think outside the box....

Leave it at home with the six shooters and chaps

....sorry, my demented sense of humor had a mind-fart. I thought this thread was hilarious.
