Hi guys.

I just tried to start my bike (warm start, I do not suspect battery) and my finger slipped off the start button before it fired up. I tried again immediately and just heard a "fffff" (not electrical) and then nothing happens. If I let the bike sit for a minute or two and turn the ignition on and press start I hear a single "click" that i've not recalled before, then nothing. This click is not reminiscent of the one a starter motor makes when it doesn't have juice If I wait a bit again and do over, same click, but nothing. Headlight is on, turn signals/lamps function.

I just rushed home to post this did not check codes. I've no idea what to do, but bike is closeby, and have had my bike apart more times than I can count. 2011 VRSCF

Well, I threw a voltmeter on it. I guess 11.02 volts just is not enough, eh?

Running year 2011 battery? 7yrs old = time for a new one.
Voltage should show 12.7v=100%. 12.1v=50%. 11.7v=25%. Hit the start button = min. 10v.

That was my second battery. I'm really hoping its that battery, otherwise I'm totally baffled. The situation was very odd.

Have the battery charged & tested. Check connections too.

Confirmed. Battery. Was very surprised! It started perfectly, then nada in an instant. 11.02 volts idle, 8 volts the moment start button pushed.
