Has anyone checked out the new super white (blue-white) replacement bulb and ballast HID kit for the V-ROD. I was thinking about buying it but want to be sure it works as advertised (kinda spendy). I have them in my SUV and love them but they have a projector lens. I'm not sure this kit will work as well with the normal headlight reflector.

Any input would be appreciated.

Hold on guys, I’m not sure the projector lens and HID lights must go hand and hand. Projector lenses have become the Germans (and a few Japanese) manufactures preferred way of aiming light to the road but may of today’s new cars offer HID lights without the projector lens. My SUV had the option of HID lights but either way it comes with projector lenses.

No matter what light source is used, aiming them properly and in the right setting (mainly reflector housing) will produce a headlight that does not blind on-coming traffic.

One last note; The concern about being "illegal in the US." You are correct, most changes to the OEM equipment is not legal. If we apply that rule to all parts of the bike, heavycycles.com brake lights and turn signals would also be outlawed. I think we all agree, illegal or not, his products are a clear improvement to the bikes visibility and safety.

Thanks for the info but tell us more... What's the model number of the bulb? Is it a blue colored halogen or is it a real Xenon? Any external ballast? How much $$$? where did you buy it?

4,300K is a color temperature, not the light output.
True, but what problem are we trying to fix... It seems there is currently no "REAL" solution available that doesn't mess with the beam pattern, does not scattered light and is street legal.

Soooooo, at least this will make the bike look a little different, doesn't blind oncoming drivers, puts out at least the same amount of light as the stock setup and is street legal.

Most of my driving is during the day anyway.

And yes, I'm a poser... :rofl:

Hum, sounds like criticism to me. Lets not get on a :soapbox: about safety. Most of us have compromised safety for cool looks in some way. If you notice something different about a V-Rod (or any bike) Thats a good thing. You can bet the person that made the change is proud of it, or they would remove it. Lets not be biased or bust anyones chops over lights.

Nick's bike is one of the best looking V-RODs on this forum. I would love to have half the modes he's made. So much so that I respect his judgment. If he says it looks cool I believe him and am willing to try the same thing (sight unseen).

Again, If someone has a better solution I'm sure everyone will want it but until then you have only a few choices, Stock (yellow, :tmbsdow: ) or cool light blue... :thumb:

So I finally received them and I have to say these lights are great. They are the brightest light I've ever seen on a bike and they have that very cool look. Thanks for the info npicklo.
