I am Bob from the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. Thanks to Senor Ketsugo who led me to this forum.

My wife Carol and I live in Rio Rancho, New Mexico a northwest suburb of Albuquerque. I have been riding motorcycles since 1971 where I grew up near San Antonio, Texas. Recent machines I have had include a 92' Electra Glide, 99 1200S Sporster, 07 Buell S1, 98 Buell S1W, 99 Buell M2, 2000 H-Deuce and 2002 Honda RC51. I recenly sold the RC51 and traded in the Deuce on a 2003 Silver V-Rod. My wife rides a 2000 Fatboy and we still have the 97 Buell S1.

When the V-Rod was introduces a couple years ago and after a test ride, I was hooked! The performance and the incredible styling are truely remarkable; it was only a matter of time before I made my purchase. I picked mine up on August 20, 2003 and have ridden 1,800 miles to date.

In the past I have poured many $$ into my H-D's to get the performance I crave. The V-Rod has it stock! Its a great blend of my former 105 hp Deuce and RC51. It will be interested to see the aftermarket engine mods that become available.

I've added the SE 16 Gauge Shotguns, SE Air filter and ECM mod for the setup. I have hardbags , Sundowner seat, winshield etc. to install, I just havent had time to put em on.

I have been checking out some of the members posted photos and there are sme sharp machines here. I noticed a couple photos labled Holli1, 2; does anyone know what pipes are on that bike? I am interested in some of the other mods - someone please elaborate the bars, fender, signals, etc.

Its good to see the V-Rod info available here and I look forward to participating with the group.

Zenhog, welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here.

Holli is our Duetsch member and I have not seen him sign up on the forum since we moved to the new server. His bike was done at lottermans (spelling) in Germany and they did some trick work on that bike. The seat and rear fender are custom from what I understand. The bars and wheels were both from Ricks in Germany. I think the pipe is a supertrap that was custom made for the bike.

The RC51 is a sweet machine. Its very easy to ride, it handles like a dream, the motor very strong and reliable. In fact the V-Rod motor feels very similar to the RC51 IMHO.

I bought it primarily to ride on the track, but time constraints didnt allow it. I did put 4,000 miles on it in the twisties in northern New Mexico and no blemishes on my driving record; thats a major miracle!

The RC had a PCIIIr with a custom map and Sato exhaust cans. Am anxious to see how the PCIIIr works on the V-Rod.

I put helibars on it to relieve the strain on the wrists, and also changed the sprockets to gear it lower. The stock gearing on the RC was similar to the V-Rod with a really high first gear. The takeoff reving, clutch slippage are almost identical.

So many bikes, so little time and $$$$.......

Yeah Red River is a great place to ride, and fish! The skiing has been pretty bad for about 5 or 6 years, due to the lack of snow and very warm weather. We have been able to ride in mid winter over 10,000 ft mtn passes in January!
