A friend of mine went to a bike event in I think North Carolina called the great smokeout or something along those lines. Anyway, he sent me back this picture of a "real Vrod". He's a big chopper fan. Thought I'd share it with Ya'll. May belong to a member.

I think it's cool that somebody took the time and made the bike what they wanted, and even me being someone that likes choppers, that doesn't look all that great. but still cool just cuz it's different! :thumb:

Dana, You mean you never heard of Back street choppers "Smokeout" .Up hear in NC.
They have a bike contest and pick ten out of over 500 entries. My buddy Rob was picked for the top 10. Not a VROD, a yamaha. With a rigid frame he made from scratch. I will try to post a picture of it.
Shame the Vrod didnt make it to the top 10 picks.

While i can appreciate the time and money that went into creating that bike i think it completely ruins what the Vrod was meant to be.

Maybe he wanted a reliable old school looking chopper. I love unreliable big inch customs. My work buddy's always pay me to work on them! :angeldev: I have one at my house now that needs the Primo drive and tranny and swingarm all re aligned cuz the bolts fell out of the primary and tranny, and another one waiting on me that has a 113 with a Magnacharger on it cuz' it leaks oil. Then I point at my bike and tell em' I can't remember the last time I checked my bolts or anything for that matter. They just shake their heads.

I have owned a custom chopper pain in the a** nothing seems to fit like it should. Looked real cool but I came back to HD and bought a DX

I hear ya Cheatin! I got the East coast version going on here. I'm loving it.
The vrods are coming up more around here. They are starting to figure it out.

Here's the thing for me, I don't care what it LOOKS like, that is a death trap!

Trying doing 115 MPH (which we all know comes up REALLY fast on these bikes) and see how "cool" you feel then.

The ram air thru the airbox is unique. It's not my taste, it looks like a V-Rod that's been injured IMHO.
To each his own, at least he had the sense to go Revo.
