Aloha
Has anyone used this type of helmet? If so, can you tell me how they fit and feel.

Thanks
Monte

What helmet exactly are you talking about?

Yeah, that's what I want on my head. Some neo-nazi, white supremist, skin head tribute piece. Sorry, but I just don't get that whole scene.
ACK - almost missed the sarcasm there, talk about a jolt out of Friday afternoon doldrums at work :lamer:

That is the one. I don't care if some people consider it Nazi style. I guess if you wear an SS or KKK decal on your that would be another story. A helmet style is just that, a style. I believe this style was designed in WWI prior to Nazis. The Nazis also used a cross and an eagle so... if I wear a certain style cross or eagle I could be labeled a Nazi? WTF is wrong with some people? A tribute piece yeah, that's me paying tribute to skinheads just because I ask about a certain style helmet. If the first thing that comes to your mind is a Nazi well that is your issue and you deal with it but don't label people a Nazi because they are interested in a certain style helmet.

If it wasn't somewhat true you wouldn't get upset about it.

And yes, I'm sorry to say there are many symbols that are associated with that era. How many people have you met that were born after 1945 that were named Adolf? The swastica was a symbol that had a much different meanings before WWII but it's not used now because of WWII and being then the symbol of the Nazi party.

I don't care for the Maltese Cross for the same reason although they are popular and probably don't have near the close connection to the WWII Nazi era. I'd never actually say anything about these normally though as they seem to be somewhat benign.

That Helmet is not a "Style" though, it looks exactly like the WWII Nazi helmet and I honestly feel that almost anyone that buys one knows the connection. The WW I german helmets and to some extent our own Kevlar helmets might share the same basic profile the Helmet you asked for most closely resembles the WWII Nazi German Helmet and you know it.

But hey, it's a free country and this is just my oppinion. We all make our own choices here. A person can be free and have a wild side, even be a rebel in a sense and still have some good taste though.

I'm told by a friend that has one the wings have pretty good lift over 60mph!!!! Make sure to strap yourself in.

No offence but some of you guys need to get a life. It's only a helmet, I don't like the style (it is a style. style - noun - a distinctive quality, form, or type of something) so what. If you like it wear it, if don't then don't. If you don't have something that is relevant to the question or statement why even bother?

I have a couple like this one, but they're not really comfortable, and they are NOT DOT approved.

They do have the advantage of two different covers (colors), those being desert tan or woodland camouflage...:rofl2:

Aerodynamically, they suck. The updraft under the windshield makes them unwearable at any speed over 40 mph.

Will it stop a 7.62 MM?

No but it will slow down or deflect a 5.56 NATO round. Too bad we are one of the only countries using this small of a round nowadays.

Vroddragon has one of the German helmets I believe. I didn't feel as if he was an SS Stormtrooper as we rode alongside each other, and I'm a pretty paranoid guy. Not a bad looking helmet if it matches your head and style.

I personally like the Chief's helmet - but if you aren't too worried about DOT/non-DOT, then www.carbonfiberhelmets.com has a nice non-DOT version (According to their sales literature, their non-DOT helmets only failed the spear test in the testing sequence) shown here:

I wear one of their non-DOT regular half-shells and I am very happy with the fit and finish of it. It also seems significantly sturdier than any novelty helmet that I have ever checked out. And due to the thinness of the helmet there is very little of the lift associated with the heavily padded penis-top DOT helmets I have worn.

They look pretty cool, but I wouldn't wear one because of how people think you are making a statement. Sometimes--and rarely--it may be a good idea to consider :karate what other people think.
