Did you check terminal 1 for power and terminal 5 for good ground?I have a 2008 night rod special, and my gauge cluster is non-functional. however, the turn signal indicators work fine, just the speedo, RPM, fuel gauge and LED backlight for the cluster no longer work.
I recently fired up the bike a week ago after the bike had been sitting for several months with no battery charger attached. Usually, I hook up the battery trickle charger to keep the battery healthy during the winter season.
Upon firing up the bike, I noticed the digital LCD was acting up, numbers were jumbled and eventually, the LCD screen stopped functioning along with the speedo, fuel and RPM gauge. When turning the ignition switch to off, I noticed that the gauge clusters back LED light was still on and found that to be odd, so I decided to disconnect the battery assuming it may need a reset.
Unfortunately, after reconnecting the battery terminals, the gauge cluster was no longer functioning, however, the turn signal indicators worked. The rest of the bike is functional with no issues.
When I turn the ignition switch to "ACC" mode, the gauge cluster is non-functional, nothing on the dash turns on.
I checked all fuses, seems to be all functional, even replace many of them for safe measure. I've unplugged the ECM and main fuse to attempt a hard reset, but still no luck. I also disconnected the 12 pin terminal from under the gauge cluster to see if that needed a reset and still no luck.
Not sure what the issue may be, I'm kinda baffled at this point. I've considered purchasing a new gauge cluster or possibly going to the dealer for a diagnostic test.
Has anyone encounter this type of issue and if so, what ultimately was done to resolve the problem?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
