Hi Folks,

I have been playing with the Garmin 550 all day and Mapsource as well. It seems like a neat unit. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips in the cage, and it gives a better overall picture, but then again the screen is ten times as big.
Anyway, it's a pretty neat GPS unit.......I may get XM satellite to go with it!

Beware -- the XM antenna is EXPENSIVE. If I recall, it's around $250. I have the Zumo 550 and like it for what it is -- a motorcycle friendly GPS. In my car, I use a Lowrance iWay 500C. Much better display, brighter, and 10GB of HDD space for MP3s (although I replaced my factory 20GB HDD with a 40GB so I have 30GB of MP3 space). Only problem with the Lowrance unit is it's heavy. Although it comes with motorcycle mounts, I would hesitate to install it on a bike. The mount isn't as secure as the Zumo one.

My biggest complaint is that the Zumo sometimes takes a long time to search for destinations by name.

Just got mine...think it was $665 (ordered various items that day). Will have to check that forum.
Still will use a road map for the days when I feel like going exploring.
