I am in the market for a "box" for my bike and I notice that there are several different types being used. What are the main differences in these boxes? What advantages or disadvantages does one have over another. I have been leaning towards a "Gils Box" because I have seen more of those mentioned. I'm talking about the Techlusion,PcIII, mainly. Is is better to just have a Harley Race tuner used instead?

Ok. I read the info and it is very informative. I have done a 28 tooth conversion to my 03 model. If I read correctly the PCiii cannot adjust for that so I am probably better with a Gils or having an HD dealer dyno tune with a race tuner?

You're in a pickle sort of.

~$150.00 for the flash.

>$150.00 for Gil's box.

If I were you, I'd consider putting up the ~$450.00 for the Race Tuner. You already have to put out $300.00. It's only about a buck fifty more for the top of the line tuner.

Disclaimer: My numbers are estimates...

You can get the HD flash for the pulley. Then get a Gil's box for tuning.
I am switching to the 28T pulley as well, so I call the stealer and start asking questions about how much will the flash cost etc... He told me the stealer has no flash for this as the flashes are only for E&I. I can't quote him exactly but he explained that the speedo is measured directly from the transmission and has nothing to do with the EF&I. So now I am sitting here saying WTF! How can that be correct?

This tech is at the stealer in Allen Tx.

Troy,

I'm not sure about this, but I would think that there would be a flash that modifies the speedo multiplication factor to make the correction when changing sprockets. I'd put $$$ on that dealer not knowing WTF. I could loose the bet, but I doubt it.

Someone else will set us straight.
