Okay everybody,

It is so nice to be able to get answers to your V-Rod questions in one place. Thanks you'll, keep up the good work.

I'm putting the Metz 200 on the rear and was looking at my front tire and have decided to change it as well. What are my options? I haven't been able to find a metz in that size, 120-70-19. So who makes one? I have looked all over and don't want to go with another dumploop.

Help... thanks

Metzeler makes the correct tires but for some reason they aren't on the website's fitment section. Here's an exerpt from their brochure:

Note that the 200 is only V rated so don't be going over 149 mph ;)

In the Jan. edition of Easyriders, Met introduces "brand new" Z-speed rear: 200/50ZR-18 (mainly designed for the Vrod). I want one, but am having trouble finding a supplier who has one.

Anybody has one installed? Any pros or cons?

Is there another "preferred" front tire for the V-Rod anybody else using?

How about the construction of a Z rated tire, since most V-Rods will never see speeds in excess of 149mph for any extended period of time, including mine, will it really provide any kind of real world advantage besides it having the last letter in the alphabet:slap2: ? Will a Z-Rated tire be considered a "safer" tire. I'll do anything just so no one has to see my brains flowing out of my ears.

Only safer if you're running in excess of 149 MPH for more than 10 minutes at a time ;) At normal speeds there's not need to worry. I'll bet all they did with the Z rated 200 is simply test it @ a speed above 149 mph. It's probably the same tire.

Of all the parts of a motorcycle you could save money on, I'd put tires as dead last.

The "Z" rating means that the tires have been designed and tested so as not to disintegrate when run at high speeds for extended periods. In order to pass this test, the carcass and tread have been designed to be strong enough to withstand the greater stresses such high-speed operation creates. This added strength is there to prevent tire blowout or failure at all speeds - making you much safer. "Z" rated tires are also absolutely superior in terms of performance than a lower rated model.
