Front Fork Reflector Removal

1979 Views 21 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Vinny
I apologize if this has come up before. I know I have seen the removal of the front fork reflectors discussed but I can't remember was was said and my searches are coming up empty. What's the trick? I know there is a safety issue here and some are very passionate about not removing the safety equipment so lets say I am interested from a hypothetical standpoint. :ride:

You know, Thats what I thought I read and I have tried bot Oral B and Johnson and Johnson and they both kept snapping. Perhaps I should try and heat them with a hair dryer first. I wonder what 4 out of 5 Dentists who ride V-rods would recommend...........
True story so you might want to try this!!!!

Duct Tape Dental Floss... I was at work one night and a large piece of food became wedged between my back teeth. I tend bar so I asked the customers for floss. One lady had an old round tin of travel floss in her purse but the floss would not come out of the tin. I looked in our tool drawer to get a pliers to open the container. Lo and behold a roll of duct tape with several strings hanging loose. I pulled a six inch piece loose and behold dental floss. The food was gone and I was no longer being irritated. --- Forrest R.
Oddly enough, the floss was mint and it was waxed! I like the duct tape floss idea and that could be yet one more problem resolved with duct tape......

Seriously though, I bought the waxed because I was worried about leaving marks on the lower legs when I was done. Normally, floss would slice through my fingers before breaking but not this time. I'm hoping some heat will help.
Thin fishing line, lasts a hell of lot longer than floss. That's what we use to pull the 100th medallions off tanks.
I have a better suggestion - buy the chrome fork sliders and just don't put the reflectors on! :D

Do the new 04 letters come off OK using this method?? I'm lining up a spray job so they got to come off.

Thanks
The reflecters come of easy after you heat them up with a hair dryer. Just pull right off. Any stick on emblem can be removed this way. Don't use a heat gun, to much heat!
Goo be gone gets rid of any sticky residue
WD-40 works good too!
I was able to pull them off by hand. Since it just double stick tape it really didnt leave much of a residue.

You guys ripping them off because of paint jobs or just cos you don't like em?

Its good news they come off easy, as I'm planning on keeping the impact blue, just having some flames done.

Me too! You guys are making WAY too big a deal out of this! ;)

I took mine off because I don't like the looks of them!

Not a big deal, I dont like them either, just that I heard stick on badges can damage paint when removed. If these come off OK, mine are coming Off for sure.
Thanks for reassuring me.
I used a heat gun, the double sided tape peeled right off, no residue left when hot!
