Foot controls for 2006 vrscr

651 Views 18 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  frogman_h2o
I am looking for parts to move my foot controls to the mid position. Any idea where I might find this? Have not had any luck with HD or jp cycles or online. I have a 2006 vrscr with standard foot control which is more of a rear position.

What you have if stock ARE mid controls - are you saying you want fwd controls like all the other V Rods ? ( other than a mid peg D Model ) If you want controls between your mids and the H-D OEM forward controls no one makes them. If you want forward controls you can sometimes swap with someone going the other way or buy the parts but folks have asked and gotten up to $ 2400 for an outright buy, as you'll need the fwd control frame sections as well -it all adds up. best of luck with it it can be done. Looking for reduced reach forward controls? Don't think I've heard of someone putting forwards on a R model.

I put highway pegs on my engine guard to stretch my legs out while cruising and it's perfect for me but yea forwards on an R ? That would be goofy while trying to use the bike as intended in the twisties - but to each his own as the mids are cramped for longer inseam riders - The big air head bikes have controls that are half way in between our V Rod mid & fwd. controls - they can be a good compromise but no one makes them for V Rods, far as I know -

And the radiator shrouds / side covers need to be replaced together with the frame rails.

Yes I was thinking of that last night - at the very least one would have to dremel tool the stock R shrouds to clearance them so the foot peg extensions would fit - and that would be just wrong to do IMHO. At one point I toyed with the idea of installing D model fwd frame rails for D style highway pegs install but the cost and trimming the R shrouds stopped me. For most foot pegs mounted on an engine guard or to the frame down tubes will give the leg stretch out a rider needs at a reasonable price. To move controls up forward is expensive, time consuming and not in keeping with the intended duty of an R model. But it can be done - (y)

But why? ........... sell the R, they were only made for 2 years so gotta be worth more to someone looking for mids. pickup a nightrod that can be fitted with factory mids or forwards. Have to use the righ tool for the job.

Absolutely - people buy the wrong M/C all the time, and they don't do their research and end up with a M/C that doesn't fit their needs, then they try to screw it up and change it into something it's not. Can't tell you how many "05 & "06 VRSCE fwd control beauties in Orange I saw that had my checkbook out & open - but no, I knew the R was the only V Rod that truly suited my needs - and I stuck to it. That's not to say someday I might not buy a Screamin' Eagle bike now but it will be # 2 V Rod, not my # 1 V Rod. (y)

Well if you have it open and find 2 SE's I'd take one if I can find everything needed to get rid of all that chrome (hate chrome). Agree, I searched for a long time to find my R. Finally have it all back together and have done a few long rides, nut and bolted it, she's good to go (y)

Glad you didn't let insurance co total it ! Be more careful up in them thar hills of TN ! Go 5 % slower ! We gotta keep the R's in service - no road sliding allowed unless you fix it like you did ! That's the rule you break it you fix it ! No totaling and walking away from an R !! (y)

I was lucky I found my R at a dealer 2.3 miles from home. I read reviews and they all said this is the Harley for people that have never owned a Harley. Waited for them to drop the price in the fall. $5000.00 and it was mine! I just loved the look. I have always wondered how much worse the other V Rods handle? I see Race Tech fork springs and Gold Valves or at least a re-valve to the front fork in the future. Time to do more research this winter on the VRSCR forum.

Hello
Try to find a 2007 VRSCR. They don't exist. Yes the books say two . But no it didn't happen
In south central PA no local dealers ever had any 2007 Vrscr. They had 2006's for sale new still in the dealership until 09 or 10. They even put stupid paint jobs on them trying to spark some interest. It didn't work, they sat . Guess it was just my uninformed comment. Thanks for the heads up .
Damn. I wouldn’t mind finding one of those leftovers.

Agreed ! And the '07 Blue one that was for sale out in Californication was a perfect Unicorn for sure - like 3500 miles, one owner, always garaged, $ 9850 I think - a member shared it here - if it was a state or two away I woulda gone & got it, trailered it home to the best home it could ever have ! Oh well, better luck next time 😥 but they are popping up from time to time - (y)
I think I found it somewhere here in the forum and wrote it down:
A total of 5313 were produced in 2006
and only 206 in 2007.”
