The cylinder heads are made of nice aluminium, so I thought I'd give it a try and polish the nasty grey stuff off.
It's not ready but I like the result so far, it fits nicely to the anodized airbox cover and gives the engine a "hand made" stamp :)

Do you have a photo of something similar as a kind of benchmark?

LOL Jan... the gray isn't nasty if ya clean it once in awhile :hidesbeh:

How often you gonna polish your heads now?

That looks like a lot of work hope your doing that by hand :)

jesus theres enough polishing required with the unfinished aluminum this would throw me over the edge!

Try chemical removal of coatings, it's much easier. Stripper in a can works damn good.

Thanks for the advice, good idea.But now that I've started polishing, it is too late to try that.

Just had another glorious idea: I'm going to cut off the cooling fins :angeldev:

You can get STRIPPERS in rattle cans now!! no way!


Dont cut the fins off how bout glue them all together!!!
