Just picked up my V-rod Saturday :thumb: Looking through the catalog, I didn't notice any detachable backrest. I like the clean flowing look of the Vrod without the backrest, but occasionally would like to have one for a passenger.

Thanks, RedDog

Not one that I know of a set that is truely detatchable like the Fatbot if your running the fender base plate you have to remove 4 screws each time you remove the back rest.

In the mistaken belief that my wife would actually sit on the back of a Vrod, I fitted the backrest. Alas, my optimism was misplaced; she still won't have anything to do with motorcycles. I've taken the rest off but there are still 4 unsightly holes left. Are there some tasteful black plugs or something that could be fitted to make it look nicer?

Bought mine a helmet. jacket, gloves and the sundowner with backrest too. Still wont come out on the bike yet. Her loss I suppose, our women are hard work at times.

As for the looks with a backrest, when your riding the bike the smooth flowing lines are not there anymore. :vrod:

backrest looks kind of like a spoiler ;)

ok, it makes me feel better about it anyway. I have 7200 miles on my V, and about 99% have been with my G/F on the bike with me. Keep trying. Once they go out, they don't want to stop :D

No kidding.. When I got my V-Rod, the wife said she wouldn't go with me. Now I can't go anywhere without her wanting to get on the back.

If your just concerned about short hops try the mini backrest. Looks good on the bike and is easy enough to switch out with a regular backrest and touring pillion if your going to be on a longish ride. Works for me at any rate.
