Good luck! I don't think its available anywhere, anymore. You could try calling around to see if someone has some old stock. Also, do a search, there is at least one thread on here describing a fix for the old cap. I "temporarily" repaired my cap with a 90 degree plastic hose fitting and some JB weld. I bought the bottle to replace it, but it has held for about a year now.

 

Damn I need one also. I thought they replaced them for free with an updated confiruation change.

That little plastic bottle is as over priced as a 5 gallon gas tank is for the older bikes.

The coolant bottles were a problem on the early models. They updated the part relatively early on and many were replaced under warranty. Mine was and the new one hasn't given me any problems.

 

mine just broke off today, were you able to find a cap anywhere?

 

Yours has a cap? Mine has a cork hicky in it with a hose that goes back to the coolant filler cap.

 

Don't know if the caps are different on the R's, but I was able to buy an updated cap for my R about 6 mos ago.

 

Mine broke last week. I drilled a hole thru a 3/4" 10-32 set screw and threaded it in both ends of the busted tube. Worked perfectly.

 

The old setup was not thought out carefully and is prone to breaking. My cap broke about 150 miles from home and was fortunate the HD dealership had one of the new designs in stock. It took me about 5 minutes to replace and now I don't have to worry about it anymore. It would have been nice if HD acknowledged this design mistake and accepted the financial responsibility, but then again I'd have more of a chance hitting the lotto.

$73 here in Canada for the bottle as you can't just buy the cap. Why do they rip us off so bad? Obvious design issue as many have had the same problem. Seriously, there is probably $2 worth of resin that goes into moulding this thing.

 

I just took the cap off a dish washing detergent bottle, cut the nipple off and slid the hose directly through it. Twisted the cap right on to the coolant bottle. Have since purchased the replacement bottle also but never had to put it in as the set up I made has held up.

 

I paid $50 and replaced it. 5min job.
