I've got Avons on my Triumph and the front tire of my R model, really like them but I tried a Cruisetec on the back with the hard rubber center for greater wear and really like it too. The prior to the Chrome version Avons I had on the back wore down flat in the middle, and a flat angled on each sidewall which I didn't like - looked like a flat top jump when worn out and that affected handling. I'm not sure how improved the newer Chrome version is but so far I really like the Metzeler Cruisetec on the back of the R, so we'll see how it does mileage wise and if it retains it's profile for the life of the tire - I would say Avon makes a very good M/C tire but I had one early model Avon on the rear of the Triumph belt separate, when I checked the NHTSA website I found a recall of a similar Avon tire to mine that caused some crashes, when I informed Avon of the belt separation on a similar one of their rear tires they denied any prior knowledge of it and really didn't even want to hear about it ( to decrease their liability ) or not even give me a new tire for my separated tire to study what was wrong with it. Not even a 20% off coupon on a new Avon tire - Having said that I don't believe Avon has any current belt separation issues and I might buy Cobra Chromes next time around to try out if the Metzeler Cruisetec has any problems as it wears down. Ride safe - buy great fresh tires, and check the DOT date !! (y)
