I am concerned about compressing the forks of my V-Rod during trailering the bike. I understand it not good to do this for an extended period of time. MSR makes a device to keep from compressing the shocks, but do not know if it could be used on the V-Rod. I would appreciate any advice from group members on this question! Hope everyone has a good holiday season!

Thank you,

I asked that question of my dealer, but they came up blank. I have trailed the bike over 5000 miles last summer, however, on a Kendon trailer. I compressed the forks as much as the tie-downs pulled them down. Probably a couple of inches as best. I also wrap the extra strap around the lower hook just in case. The upper hook I attach thoough one of those douple loop straps which I lace through the lower triple tree. (It did leave a mark on the lower trip[le tree which some day I will buff out). I also put a second set of straps fron the upper shock bolts to the trailer frame in the rear.

If you are going for an open trailer, I strongly recommend the Kendon. Independent suspension, and light weight. Also, a self loading front wheel capture device.

Compressing Forks While Trailering

Hi, Daniii

Thanks for the info! I have not asked my dealer about compressing the forks. I have a Haulmark enclosed trailer that can fit in a garage because of covenants and restrictions where I live. It enables me to trailer 2 bikes in case I have a friend go with me. Take care and have a great day!

"gork":rofl3: love that term.

Daniii, how much was that trailer, if I may ask? looks nice, and not too heavy.

I paid $1750.00, but bought it from the HD dealer here in Texas. I suspect it can be had for less elsewhere. Note: The tail folds up and it stores vertically in the garage.
Plus its color coordinated with my Blazer.
