My engine light comes on after starup foe a few secs but when I check the codes NONE comes up. Any Sugs. I thought that when the engine light pops up after startup that meant that you had trouble codes.

dlevi03 if your voltage goes low during cranking from a weak battery it can set a phantom code, it seems as though there was a tech bulletin about it I'll see if I can locate it. I have also heard of a couple of security codes that set and don't read without a scanalyzer but that I can't say for sure.

Ever since I put in my power commander I get the same thing. Light comes on for about 3 seconds then goes away. Doesn`t seem to affect anything. No trouble codes.

My dealer said that it was prob the same thing. I do notice that is hard to start and it has stalled once or twice at startup mostly after the bike has been sitting for a few days. My guess is the security system.

Mine did the same thing. However it would also stall at stops. Took it in and the dealer found an idling trouble code. That explained the stalling at start up and at stops. They did the trouble shoot for the idling problem and replaced the fuel tank module flange at the same time. Now no problems and no engine light.

Max is always on the ball.... but in this case, it's not a phantom 'code', but as the voltage drops during cranking it sometimes restarts the diagnostic funtion of the ECM which begins with the 'check eng' icon lighting up. In this situation you may see the light a 'second' time, but it should go off after only 4 seconds. (the same as when you first turn the switches on)

When there really IS a code (DTC) present... the icon will come back on for EIGHT seconds (historic code) or permanently (current code).

I get item P0505, which is idle air control problem 4.17. what is it? I erased it and now it does not show. Do you have any idea what was/is the problem.

That is an IAC (idle air control motor) error. Usually it should occur and you may have a stalling. I got it one time after the bike had been sitting for a couple of weeks and think it might have been carbon sticking the IAC and it did stall one time. Never happened to me again.

IAT Sensor VIBED LOOSE

"VIBED LOOSE"Just back from the Local Dealer....They hooked their Lap Top up ...gave the same reading as what was on the bikes readout...P0013...IAT...Open/ My wrench didn't know...but started messing with the sensor...it had vibed loose...just plugged it back in....took care of the light...KAZ was right..."take it in and let the tech's check it out.." Hope all fixes are that simple....NOW I KNOW THE CODES...THANK MAX.... :cheers:

the engine light is staying on and the security light.
I never got a FOB and I've never used the security function

Current Error code P1010. I dont have a security system that I am aware of. Checked the battery cables, no problem there. The security light stays on when riding and for for some time when parked. The engine diagnostic lamp lights up as well. WTF? It seems to run fine

Also have current code U1255. Please advise

I performed a trick that I learned with cars when the service engine soon light comes on. Disconnect the battery cable, wait a minute and then put it back on. Both the error lights cleared. I checked with the computer and all three show no errors. Rode it for about 40 miles tonight and so far so good.

Maybe just a fluke.
