Change the fluid. Type is documented on the clutch master cylinder.

No hydraulic clutch on sporty. And HD oil until the change to school. The clutch is out to the end if the lever. Can pull the lever in just a little and disengage the clutch.

That's normal for the V-Rod hydraulic clutch. No adjustment possible.

You are used to cable operated M/C clutches that engage at half lever pull. The V-Rod hydraulic clutch is a bit different. It takes a little getting used to. You will in time.
Wait until you feel a grinding sound at slight pull under heavy power. Also normal.
