No pix, but Joe Borema cut the sides of the airbox out to show off a twin K&N set up he had. Looked great, but unsure on rain. Imagine a 8 inch opening on each side. Wire in an LED, and it would look great!
cut open the sides like Joe, but inlay acrylic or plexiglass to the underside of the airbox form. Once gently and evenly heated, it should be fairly easy to mold the plexi to the form of the airbox
I did it way way back when I owned a '72 Chevelle. I'm sure a custom car shop or even a custom sounds shop can help you out. My sound guy in PA builds plexi enclosures fairly often
