Sometimes it happens that you just want to check the bearing shell wear pattern after engine running hot or lack of oil or oil dilution.
There is a trick to access the big end conrod bearings without splitting the cases (or engine removal if you chain lift the whole bike): Turn the crank so that the bolt is positioned more or less 90° and close to the lower engine case girdle plate. Now drill a hole into the girdle plate, big enough to insert a socket extension.
One hole with 15mm will be enough and will cause no harm.
Make sure that no drill cuttings enter the engine.
Now you can access the bolt without having to split the cases.

Yep, but its good to know.:)
Trust me. If the clearance has increased oil pressure will drop at idle with oil at operating temp. It's one of the old standards to measure engine bearing health when buying a used product with an engine.
Also, in around .003-.004 clearance it can be heard knocking once the oil is hot.
I think they start out at .0007-.001 new fit. Anything near the wear limit, the oil pressure won't make the minimum spec any more.
