To begin this is an 07 vrscaw. The first ride of the season the brake sensor switch blew out. The entire end of the switch was gone. After replacing that and bleeding the brakes I took it out again where I learned the brake light and turn signals where not working. The brake light bulb was burnt out so I just replaced that, now the brake light stays lit all the time and grabbing the brakes does nothing. The turn signals are still not working, although they do flash normally when the security system notices stuff. I checked the fuse to the lights and it is fine. Anyone else have this issue or know where to begin? Thanks.

Disconnect a wire from the new brake light switch and see if the lights go off then. If not try same on front.
If lights stay on then you have a wiring issue (A Short or mis-wired).

What did you use to replace the brake light bulb?
Are you sure it’s the brake light that's on and not just the running light?
Have you checked the ACCY fuse?
Does the IM (instrument module) WOW?
A WOW test is performed by turning the ignition switch to the ACC position. The IM background lighting should illuminate, the "idiot" lights controlled by serial data should illuminate (= battery, security, coolant temperature and check engine light), and the gauge needles should sweep through their full range of motion.

I used an 1157 to replace the tail light bulb and also replaced the accy fuse which was also bad. Now while turned to ignition the brake light stays on (turn signals work normally). If I turn it to acct it does the wow test and the brake light works normally. When I hit either brakes it lights up and when I let off it goes out. Assuming it's some kind of wiring issue but it doesnt make sense to me that it works while in accy and not while running

I don't know why this would happen.

When the ignition switch is in the IGN position, battery power is sent to the ACCY and LIGHTS fuses. The ACCY fuse powers the brake light and the LIGHTS fuse powers the running lights (as well as the head light). When switched to the ACC position, the ignition switch should cut power to the LIGHTS fuse while maintaining power to the ACCY fuse. Try pulling the LIGHTS fuse. If this makes the brake light work as it should, you have a short from the blue wire (LIGHTS circuit) to the R/Y (red with yellow stripe) wire that powers the brake light.
