Last weekend I did a bottom wipe on the v-Rod. Usually once every couple of months, I'll clean all the road stuff and grime off the bottom, so as to be sure nothing is leaking.

Looking at the plate that guards the gas tank, there is a bracket or series of prongs where it looks like something is supposed to snap into place there. The brackets are bent in such away, where it looks like a lot of tension will hold whatever fits into this. This bracket is located on the front slant area of the guard or skid plate, and not on the very bottom of the skid plate.

The V-rod I have is a 02, so I am not sure if later models have this on them.

Anyone know or can speculate what this might be for?

My thought is, would this be something for the assembly line process, that a tool fits into to move the bike along the assembly line, or could this be used as an aid for a bike stand, to be able to fashion a tool to put into the bracket to keep the bike from moving around while up on a jack or stand.

Thanks Max. So what does the purge tank accomplish?

I wonder if this bracket would be a location for a horn relocation. Was thinkoing about moving the horn somewhere.

O.......wonder when the peoples republic of kalifornication will figure a fart scrub tank? Imagine the cow and cattle people on this one. I have heard that the environmentalist are working on ways to reduce methane, truely poopy biz and smelly too.

Wondermus accesoory on the v-rod that pushes the price up jest a lettle more no doubt!

In fairness, with so many people on the left coast, anything they can figure out to lower junk in the atmosphere, and providing it truely works, is needed. Even in Denver, I was suprised to see the layer of stuff laying over the land in the air.

Thanks for the explanation.

If I can figure out how to get my horn down on the bracket, i will advise. The figuring out will how to keep junk from getting into the toot device, specifically water, which would no doubt be a problem.
