I know that Breathless Performance does the stock pipe cut out and so does "V-mod" Im not familiar with V-mod. Is it a company of some sort? I have taken my stock pipes off and they are ready to be sent to someone but I am not clear on who to send them to. Thanks

The only one I have done business with myself is Chopper Steve at v-mod.com and always get first rate service and he stands behind what I have purchased without a problem. I might be a little more likely to recommend Steve since he actually visits the forum and answers questions about his products.

Kaz don't misunderstand, I know that John and a few others have issues with Ernie but I have never done any business with Ernie and I hear reports of people getting good products from him. I am all for anyone that is helping to advance the product lines for my two wheel buddy. It is hard to endorse Ernie when he does not post or answer questions here and I have never made a purchase from him.

Max,
Just to make my position a bit clearer, I haven't purchased anything from Ernie either. I just see his web site as quite misleading. I also have heard good things from people who have purchased BOTH Vette and V-Rod products from BPP. But I also have heard the quality of some of the products being sub par as well (not just the radiator grills). My observations lead me to believe Ernie is just looking to make a buck. ChopperSteve, (V-Mod.com) on the other hand, is interested in R&D, for the betterment of the bike we all love, as well as making a buck . :2cents

Ive got to agree with John about Steves committment to the VRod R&D. It seems he is always looking for new parts for the bike. He has a geniune intrest in the bike and finding ways to make it better.

On a side note: I did buy a side mount plate holder from BPP and was very happy with the quality. It came chrome and also with the correct mounting bolt as well. But im not sure they make it or its sombody elses product they are selling (like the V-Mod pipes).

If it were me............id send them to Steve! Ive got a set and i am very happy with them!

There's another difference between the two. Though I've never met Steve I've talked to him and read some of what he's had to say. I've met Ernie as well as talked to him at some length. Here's my observations.

Steve is a true builder. A thinker who knows what he wants the end result to be and puts in the time and sweat to make it happen and a damn good mechanic to boot.

Ernie is a salesman. Someone who sells the sizzle. The flash in the pan who likes the toys and has enough knowledge to know what can turn a profit and what can't.

For every Steve there are 10 Ernie's :(

Andy,
The factory "Stage 1" download will work very well, but the Power Commander or the Race Tuner is even better. IF you don't change anything except the pipes (no SE air filter) you can run w/o any download w/o doing any damage. You may have a flat spot around 4K though.
