Well guys, Jim's HD in St. Pete FL(where I got my vrod) was invited to the Dyno shootout in CA a couple weeks ago. They won the normally aspirated v-twin class with 140hp and 98ft lbs of torque (if I remember right).

They did this using the big bore kit, 28T sprocket, factory throttle bodies, but run topless with no filter, zippers cam, polished & balanced internal engine parts.

Sounds real healthy.Did they heve the heads worked on?
Were those "factory T.B's" bored out?
Just curious.Because my dealer,Gerencer's in Elkhart,IN,Is currently building 2 drag bikes.These motors are tricked out,both have different combo's.The owner and the Tilley's are good friends.

Yes, the heads were worked a little.

The factory TB's are stock, that is his next upgrade to bore them out. The one thing I forgot to mention was he is running a ST exhaust with a larger baffle in it.

By having the motor (crank and internals) polished, he was able to remove the counter balancer. He also went to an electric water pump to cut drag on motor.

Dont really know if the heads were CNC ported or not. I believe it was CycleRama that did the machining for big bore kit and the head work..... but dont take my word for it.

$2K-3k+ for another 23+- ponies .... Unless I was racing the bike it's not worth it to me. (There aren't any racetracks around here for me to run it on and potentially, there'd be a drag racing ticket with my name on it in the offing.) I'm plenty pleased with my 117.5 hp -- it's still a badass bike.

Someday;) Hopefully this coming fall and winter.Just gotta put the money away or win the lottery:D My dealer has about 8k + in each of the 3 rods.2 are for racing and the other is the owners street bike.If I can sneak some pics of these motors,I will post them.These motors are bad to the bone.:diablo: I got to see some cam specs (1) was well over .500 lift and the other was over .600lift.From what the mechanic told me is that they are running nearly identical cams as Tilley'sHD(home of Tripp Nobles).:notworthy

I agree with Michael333 but I'd still like s'MORE even if I get to 117. It is a lot of money. I'm pretty sure I can put it together pretty quick. Just call Zipper's, place the order, have it all done here, or send them the motor, whatever.

For me at least, as much as I like horsepower, I feel VERY unwilling to do it now most of all because my V-Rod has to be there to turn the key and go. I will not park it for two weeks again unless absolutely necessary. This motorcycle begs to be ridden daily if possible.

I may have another one, and another one actually, but V-Rods they are not. What is it about this particular one? I don't know. But to take this beautiful machine appart, then separate it from me. NO. Hell, the excuse today was going to BlockBuster to buy "Finding Nemo" for the little girl. It had to be quick, because it was on the V-Rod. Of course they were out ;) , so I went to Costco and you know what? They were out too ;) . So, since I am such a good daddy I HAD TO go across town :biker: to get it. THAT movie was fun.

If I had the winter thing I'd be :soapbox: .

No, really, give me a month or three. Then maybe.

1520 big bore?

Now that should smoke a 280 tire with no problem.
